A native of Southern California, Chef Stephen--much like Chef James Trees--was inspired by an aunt. In Steve’s case, it was his Korean Aunt Kun Amma, who he calls “the best cook in our family--I gained many a pound eating her food!” Like many, Chef Stephen started as a burger jockey but within a few years, got the opportunity to work under legendary chefs like Roy Yamaguchi and Emeril Lagasse before James Trees drafted him away from the Las Vegas Strip. “Working at Esther’s with Chef James, I feel like I am pursuing my passion and learning every day. Always trying to be better. We are a family unit here.” When not in the kitchen, Chef Steve enjoys time with his own family unit: his wife and children.
